The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three dispatch riders in Abuja for distributing illicit drugs, as part of a nationwide crackdown that also uncovered smuggling operations through airports, markets, and border towns.
The riders—Sabo Sule (24), Samuel Nnamdi (28), and Idris Jibrin (28)—were nabbed during intelligence-led operations in Gwarimpa, Jahi, and Galadimawa. They were caught with 149.8 grams of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, concealed in motorcycle courier bags.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at the Lagos airport intercepted cocaine and tramadol hidden in 71 vehicle side mirrors destined for Gabon, leading to the arrest of at least three suspects, including popular cargo agent Ihekweme Osinachi Benedict.
Further seizures included:
- 100,000 tramadol capsules in Benue State.
- 233.5kg skunk in Edo State.
- Cocaine-laced lipsticks linked to a Lagos-based couple.
- 7,218 opioid pills in Ogun.
- 41,705 tramadol capsules in Bayelsa.
- 61kg of skunk in Kano.
- Methamphetamine and cannabis in Osun.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd.), commended the agency’s operatives for their vigilance and warned traffickers against exploiting logistics services and concealment tactics to evade detection.
