Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has dismissed claims that his political aides receive meagre salaries, insisting that even his Personal Assistants (PAs) earn not less than ₦1 million monthly.

Speaking at a Town Square Meeting in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, the governor said some aides mislead the public by trivialising their pay, describing ₦1 million as “a stipend.”

“Hear me well, no PA earns less than a million naira. And when they want to talk, they will say it is a stipend. You call one million naira stipend? It is serious money,” Eno stressed.

He further directed the Secretary to the State Government to compile and publish the names of all political appointees by local government area, urging citizens to hold their representatives accountable.

During the event, Eno elevated his PA on Protocol, Blessed Essien, to Special Assistant on Public Works, after Essien donated a borehole project to his community.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) on a possible salary review for the president, vice president, governors, and other top officials.
