Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has dismissed suggestions that any political figure — including former President Goodluck Jonathan — could defeat Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in a recent interview, Bwala described calls for Jonathan to contest as a calculated attempt to tarnish his post-office reputation, noting that the former president has built an esteemed global profile since leaving power.
He argued that the political landscape in the South, Jonathan’s home region, is now largely aligned with Tinubu, with several governors showing support. He also questioned the sincerity of northern politicians encouraging Jonathan to run, recalling that many opposed him while he was in office.
Bwala stressed that Tinubu’s political dominance remains unchallenged, saying:
“There is not a single politician that has the capacity to knock off President Bola Tinubu.”
Jonathan has not yet indicated whether he will run in 2027.
