Online content creator Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat has accused the Lagos State Government of unfair taxation after receiving a ₦36 million income tax bill from the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
Speaking in a TikTok livestream with singer Peruzzi, the 20-year-old claimed the demand was linked to a recent TVC interview where he said he was “making money on TikTok,” insisting the statement was only “packaging.”
“I swear to Almighty Allah, I don’t have anything. I only came into the limelight last year. Why should I pay ₦36 million when the government has never given me anything, not even TikTok support?” he said.
Peller, who won “Best Content Creator” at the 2024 Trace Awards, maintained that his earnings come from social media and not from Nigerian-based companies.
Peruzzi, however, urged him to settle the tax to avoid arrest, stressing that anyone earning income in Nigeria is obligated to pay.
Peller is known for his witty livestreams and has hosted stars like Olamide, Mr P, and footballer Victor Boniface.
