Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has passed away.
Her death was announced on Friday by her grandson in a statement shared on Facebook. In the post, he expressed the family’s grief and confirmed her passing, noting that she died a few hours earlier.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai,” he wrote.
He further confirmed that the deceased was the biological mother of the former governor and offered prayers for her soul, describing her as a woman whose life was deeply appreciated by her family.
“We are grateful for the life she lived and may Allah SWT bless her gentle soul. On behalf of our family, we seek your prayers,” the statement added.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the circumstances of her death have not been disclosed.
Family members, associates, and sympathisers are expected to continue sending in condolences as preparations for her burial are anticipated in line with Islamic rites.
