Fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has apologised for his conduct during an altercation with ValueJet staff at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday.
In a video obtained by VoiceNews on Friday, the musician described his actions as regrettable and sought forgiveness from President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Aviation, airline officials, passengers, and fans worldwide.
“I take full responsibility for all incidents… I seek forgiveness from Mr. President, the Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Honourable Minister for Aviation, the pilot, the airline, the airline staff, passengers, my fans across the globe, and my family,” he said.
KWAM 1 explained that the container at the centre of the dispute contained water for medical reasons due to dehydration, as advised by his doctor.
The apology came a day after the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, directed the Nigeria Civil Aviation Agency (NCAA) to place the singer on a no-fly list pending a full investigation. Keyamo also urged the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to prosecute him.
FAAN had earlier accused the singer of attempting to board with a flask containing alcohol, spilling it on an airline security officer, and blocking the aircraft from taxiing—behaviour the minister likened to a “hostage situation.”
The NCAA has also suspended two ValueJet pilots involved, citing a serious breach of safety protocols.
