Former President Goodluck Jonathan has met with the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, at his Abuja residence, in what political observers describe as a crucial consultation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The closed-door meeting, which took place amid intensifying political realignments, is believed to be part of broader efforts to forge new alliances and strengthen the opposition’s position in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.

Jonathan, who in recent months has been at the center of high-level consultations across party lines, continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s democratic direction.

Also on Thursday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar visited David Mark for a separate meeting. Announcing the development on his X page, Atiku described the engagement as a “meeting of the Nigerian people against the oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land,” and shared images of key participants.

While details of both meetings remain undisclosed, analysts say they signal early moves by major political actors to consolidate forces ahead of the 2027 polls.
