Activist lawyer and public commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has criticised the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, accusing him of dishonesty and claiming that he has lost political relevance.

Adeyanju made the remarks while reacting to a viral post in which another political commentator questioned Obi’s credibility over statements he made during the last general election.

The exchange has since reignited debate on social media, drawing sharp reactions from both supporters and critics of the former Anambra State governor.

In his comments, Adeyanju alleged that Obi had repeatedly misled Nigerians and advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar not to consider him for any future political arrangement, including a possible vice-presidential role.

“Obi lies for a living, so stop worrying yourself about him. He is no longer relevant in the scheme of things. Atiku shouldn’t even consider giving him the VP slot,” Adeyanju wrote.

He also referenced Obi’s past association with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), recalling that the former governor had once pledged not to leave the party but later defected.

According to Adeyanju, the move further demonstrated what he described as Obi’s political inconsistency.

He argued that opposition politics in Nigeria should move beyond Obi and focus on alternative strategies and leadership.

As of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi had not formally responded to Adeyanju’s comments.
