Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Sunday returned to their base in Fez, Morocco, as preparations intensify for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 semifinal showdown against hosts Morocco.
The team’s arrival came less than 24 hours after a convincing 2–0 victory over Algeria in Saturday’s quarterfinal encounter in Marrakech.
A video shared on the Super Eagles’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle showed the players disembarking from a Royal Air Maroc flight under clear skies. Dressed in matching grey puffer jackets and tracksuits, the players were seen carrying personal luggage as they descended the aircraft stairs, appearing relaxed and in high spirits. Star striker Victor Osimhen was also spotted among the squad.
In the accompanying post, the team announced:
“The Super Eagles return to Fez. A recovery session is scheduled for tonight at the Saardienne Football Complex. #SuperEagles #AFCON2025 #Naija4TheWin.”
Osimhen played a decisive role in the quarterfinal win, scoring with a powerful header and providing the assist for Jerome Akor’s goal to eliminate Algeria and send Nigeria into their 16th AFCON semifinal.
The Super Eagles will face Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday, January 14, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. local time.
