Social media activist VeryDarkMan has announced the rescue of a newborn allegedly stolen shortly after birth and sold for ₦4.5 million, following a coordinated police operation spanning multiple states in Nigeria.
According to his account, the child’s mother reported the case to him on April 25, 2026. He said he immediately accompanied her to the Special Tactical Squad office in Guzape, Abuja, where the matter was presented to the squad commander, ACP Victor. After an official petition received approval from the Force Intelligence Department, investigators moved quickly to begin tracking the suspects.
Operatives later travelled to Imo State, where an initial arrest was made. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed that the baby had been sold to a lawyer for ₦4.5 million. Police then extended the operation to Lagos State, where the child was reportedly recovered.
VeryDarkMan said all parties involved have since been taken to Abuja as authorities prepare for the formal handover of the baby to the biological mother. He described the rescue as the result of swift police coordination and sustained follow-up after the case was first reported.
The incident has sparked fresh public concern over child trafficking and hospital-related baby theft, while many Nigerians have called for a full investigation and prosecution of everyone connected to the case.
