Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has sparked reactions after telling members of his congregation to give kidnappers his phone number if they are ever abducted. The statement was made during a recent church service at the ministry’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State.
According to Oyedepo, he has intervened in past kidnap incidents involving church members and believes such actions demonstrated spiritual authority over dangerous situations.
Speaking to the congregation, the cleric recounted an incident involving one of the church’s pastors who was kidnapped. He said he spoke directly to the abductors during a ransom call and later learned the victim was released soon after.
Oyedepo also shared another testimony involving a female church member who was reportedly abducted. He said the woman declared she would regain freedom soon, after which confusion allegedly broke out among the kidnappers before her release.
The viral sermon clip has generated widespread discussion online, with many Nigerians reacting to the bishop’s comments amid the country’s continuing security concerns and frequent kidnapping incidents.
