Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, and other aggrieved figures are no longer welcome in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike’s comments follow the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, which he says has effectively settled the party’s lingering leadership crisis and affirmed the current structure of the PDP.
Speaking on the development, the FCT minister insisted that the verdict has drawn a clear line, leaving no room for the return of those he described as “disruptive elements” within the party. According to him, individuals who distanced themselves from the PDP during its internal struggles cannot simply come back after the court’s decision.
Wike argued that the ruling validates the leadership and direction of the party, adding that loyalty and consistency must be upheld if the PDP hopes to rebuild and remain competitive.
The former Rivers State governor also dismissed any reconciliation moves involving the affected figures, stressing that the party must move forward without revisiting past divisions.
The PDP has been grappling with internal conflicts since the 2023 general elections, with tensions between key stakeholders deepening over issues of leadership, strategy, and party unity.
Wike’s latest remarks signal a hardline stance that could further shape the PDP’s post-crisis trajectory as it attempts to reposition itself ahead of future elections.
